Gil Russell specializes in next generation semiconductor technology for In-Memory Computing, Near Data Processing-Acceleration, Predictive Analytics, Neuromorphic Execution Units and Cognitive Intelligent Computing.
He conceived and established RLDRAM as the industry standard communications DRAM, and has over 30 years of DRAM and Non-Volatile Memory technical marketing experience with Samsung, Infineon, Siemens, and NEC.
He co-founded Bright Side Analytics, an IT consulting firm in July 2005 specializing in dynamic, non-volatile and persistent memory technologies. He has managed numerous new product definition activities – participating as a member of new product development engineering teams; technical lead of new product introductions; technical interface and liaison to external partnerships at Infineon Technologies, Siemens Microelectronics, NEC and Samsung.
He conceived and developed the Reduced Latency DRAM [RLDRAM] Architecture that became the defacto standard for high performance communications processors and the base technology for the current family of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM).
Mr. Russell's semiconductor memory work includes lead activities in memory product development from baseline specification through to product introduction and manufacturing release. His industry standards work include Synchronous DRAM; DDR1; DDR2; DDR3; DDR4; LPDRAM; RDIMM; LRDIMM; RLDRAM; SLDRAM; JEDEC Board Director - JC42/16 Chairs and M11 Memory Steering Committee; and CAB Member – Flash Memory Summit.
